Day 3

So within the Summer Challenge, Randi and I are counting down the days left and trying to pump up the momentum a little. Jaimie is joining in too and has challenged herself to 20 workouts in the last 28 days of the challenge....and I, of course, am following suit! 20 workouts in 28 days. Today is Day 3 of the last 28 days and I unfortunately missed the gym yesterday. With good reason of course. I had to travel 1.5 hours out of town to get a root canal done by a specialist. $1500 later....yes $1500. Seriously? Yowsa. Ugh. Move on Carolyn.

Right....so we now have 26 days left in the challenge. Are you still challenging yourself? Pushing yourself? Still motivated? Still keeping your goals in the back of your mind? If not, Smarten up Ladies! Summer is just around the corner. So run the extra mile, stay on the elliptical for an extra 10 mins, lift an extra set or just say no to the timbits flying around your office (I just did!). Do I sound like a cheesy infomercial yet??

If you haven't checked it out yet, Angie is completely 100% motivated and throwing herself wholeheartedly into a new meal/exercise plan that will no doubt have her looking radiant in her wedding dress. Check it out, her dedication is contagious! Scott and I are even thinking about ordering the book and trying out the plan. It certainly makes a lot of sense when you do some research on it and I even have a friend who joined Body for Life a few years ago with her hubby. And boy, did it ever work for them! My only reservation is the cheat day. I know, that sounds like the best part right? But I think of how much junk I could eat in one day and it scares me! Can you really eat junk all day for one whole day and still lose weight? This plan says you can, and who am I to judge? I'm going to think about it for a few days and see if I can find the book.

That's it for me today ladies!

  1. I am sitting at my desk energized from my lunch-time work leg work out, but I am trying to convince myself that sauted zucchini does constitute a lunch when combined with Booster Juice. Putting it all into the FitDay Calculator it says I am coming up short for my daily calorie allotment, but its all the fruits and veggies. I couldn't eat anymore if I tried. Isn't what I planned to achieve from the challenge, but its gotta count for something :D

  2. I have to agree about being scared of a "cheat day"...I am certain I could do a lot of damage some weeks...but others I think I would be okay!!!

I am a BIT behind on my goals, but honestly, I feel SOOOO friggin good about I am not worried! I am working on getting my butt moving and I am CERTAIN that I will reach my goal! If I worked out every day I would be shy by 4 workouts...COME ON, you KNOW I am not going to let that happen!!! (okay, I totally just pumped myself up there!)

    YOU CAN DO IT!

  3. my cousin did Body for Life and two weeks into the program her cheat days had changed considerably - BECAUSE - after eating so clean the "cheats" didn't digest that well. It really worked well for her. And she naturally regulated the cheat days.

  4. Hey thanks for the shout out Carolyn!

The cheat day idea IS scarry because it is so counter-intuitive to everything you've thought about weight loss and the very thing we are constantly trying not to do and guiling ourselves over. We will see how they turn out, but the book specifically talks about the experience with clients etc. and those who didn't go all out and indulge (and it's all fair game, however much you want), didn't see the results because they were not boosting their leptin the way you need to. That said, I can only imagine that there has to be some degree of "tweaking" to figure out what will work best for your body. There are a few "cheat rules" that I"ll post about, but they are nothing that make you think "oh there's the catch," so we shall see!

Like fatinah said, even though you're "allowed" to eat whatever you want and however much you want, I imagine that eating clean all week makes it more difficult to do it physically. And the idea that all week long if you want something that's "off limits," you have the comfort that you can have it and then some on Saturday and it's all on OP. I will definiately keep updating regularly on the results of course.

Oh and to answer your other question, the program starts with a cheat day and then it's 3 weeks priming phaze with no cheat, then it's weekly cheat.

If this works out for me I would imagine that it would be a great plan for you since your most difficult times are on the weekends.

  7. I have been totally motivated since I had to walk up 4 flights of stairs Monday and nearly died doing it (it really opened up my eyes).

I doubt I'll lose 15 pounds like I had wanted but I MAY (and that is a big if) join you on the workout thing. We'll see.

Cheat day-yeah right now they are just a bad, BAD thing for me. It turns into a total binge out and usually another day ends up getting tacked on. But some can handle it.

  8. Go us!! Thanks for the shout out Carolyn. I can't wait til my lungs return to normal so I can really bust my ass at the gym. (Stupid congestion!!)

  9. I pulled my hamstring, and wasn't able to do any runs this week. I'm really angry but I have to rest it if it's going to get better. I'm going to go to the gym on Sunday morning and hope that it's better. It feels a bit better, but once I get on the treadmill anything can change and it can become sore. I'll have to really push it these next 3 weeks.

  11. I tried BFL once, years ago and while other people's results seemed AMAZING the food plan was too strict for me (except for the cheat day, of course! ;)

The book is super motivating though, and has some great info on weight lifting.

Give it a shot! I'd love to watch your transformation!

  12. Thanks for the extra shot of motivation.
I've had such a hard time lately because of wedding related social events - I'm still maintaining and not losing. :(
But I have a month left, which is plenty of time to lose a few pounds!
Let us know what you think of that diet if you try it. I might have to jump on the bandwagon.

Sorry to hear about the root canal. :(
