Ahh Mondays. A great day to start all over again, wouldn't you say?
I actually didn't do too bad this weekend. I did have a few treats but I mainly stuck to things I was allowed to have, I just had more of them than usual. Considering the weekend I had, I'm quite proud of myself (more on the weekend in a bit) Friday night I did have a 1/2 glass of red wine and a 100 calorie Aero bar. Nothing has ever tasted so good, I assure you. Saturday was pretty good all day, and Saturday night I made a banana and yogurt smoothie as a treat. I really didn't need it but that little treat kept me from going crazy over the weekend. I also had a little bag of All Bran Bites too. Not something I should have had but it's better than a whole chocolate bar right? I needed something to do while I'm shop vaccing my flooded basement right?
...........
Which brings me to my "strength of character" weekend as I am now calling it.
Friday night was great. A friend came over and we watched a chick flick and did some scrapbooking. Then came Saturday, and with it? A blizzard that dropped over 30 cms of snow. Ugh. So I decide to make one last ditch effort to go to the store to stock up on girly movies and possbly another 100 calorie Aero bar. I only made it about 30 feet before I plowed into a snowbank at the end of my driveway. And that's exactly where my car stayed (not by choice, the thing wouldn't budge) Fine. I'm snowed in. Not a bad thing right? I'll catch up on some landry, put the dishwasher on, clean up and just relax. Called the plow guy and set him up for Sunday. All good. Put on a little Nanny Diaries action and I'm starting to let go of the stress of backing my car into a snowbank. Pause the movie for a yogurt and Banana smoothie, The blender is downstairs in the landry room. Run downstairs, crack open the door and *Spalsh* I'm standing in a swimming pool that once was my landry room. My little mat that used to be in front of my washer to keep my feet warm when doing landry is now floating around my landry room and could possibly be used as a floatation device. The water was gushing out of the back of my washing machine. After a good 10 mins of frantic running around and screaming I got the water shut off and was left with a good 4 hours of quality shop vac time. Sigh. I can't believe I'm glad to be back at work!
Scott come homes this Saturday! Woohoo! Can't wait to see him. He has been working so much down there and he is exhausted and ready to come home. This week should be busy though since I am picking up my 2 year old niece today and she is moving in with me until Friday while her Mom & Dad are in Cuba! I'll be so busy I won't even have time to miss Scott!
Foodwise the weekend was ok not stellar. I was drawn to chocolate chips for some reason but I managed to keep it under control. If I was doing WW I definitely would have been way under 35 flex points so I'm happy!
Happy Monday everyone!

OMG, how terrible!!! I can't even begin to imagine how frustrating it is to have something go wrong at home, and have to handle it by yourself. I'm so sorry that you had such a crappy Saturday.
ReplyDeleteOn the other note, good job with your diet. You are doing a fantastic job.
Have fun with your niece this week.
WOW!! I am SERIOUSLY so impressed with you right now! Sometimes I can be a tough chick, and others I am a sissy girl...your flooding and snowbank issue would have fallen into the second category if it were me!!! You are AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you did a FANTASTIC job food wise too!!! You handled it PERFECTLY!
Sounds like you did awesome this weekend, congrats.
ReplyDeletePS Sorry to hear about the flooding and the snowbank...neither of them are fun things to have to deal with!
OMG I can just imagine what all of that would have been like not having hubby around! Household mishaps are never a fun experience~!
ReplyDeleteYou did soooo well on the weekend, yaaay you!!!!! Good job!
RYC: I got the iron-on transfer pages at Michael's. In the aisle with the t-shirts, fabric markers etc., there's little kits you can buy to print your own stuff on and iron them on! It was perfect!
OMG...What a weekend!! Snowed in and flooded, all in one day?!?!
ReplyDeleteMajor pats on the back for staying on plan during such stress!!
Have fun being a single mom for a few days! Whoa - sounds like a lot of work, but with great rewards ;)
So jealous that Canadians can go to Cuba. It is *SO* odd that we aren't 'supposed' to go there.
Why does stuff like that happen when our hubbies are away?!?!
ReplyDeleteSOunds like you did great this weekend anyway!
I can't believe your weekend - WOW! You must be counting down the hours until your hubby is back. I hope that nothing was damaged too badly.
ReplyDeleteAs for this week flying by with your niece - oh yes, it will! Sounds like a lot of fun.
You did AMAZING this weekend! Yay! I'm so proud of you.
Oh. My. Gosh. Flooded Basement?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it seem like stuff like that happens when the husbys are away? lol!
Have fun with your niece!
and btw- You're helping me stay on track this week Carolyn. I've thought about your crazy healthy eating plan more than once, you can totally do it! :)
RE: your comment on my blog... I don't make my hummus...I buy it! :) I like the SummerFresh variety...it's 1 point for 2 tablespoons.
ReplyDeleteOh girl!! I always worry that stuff like that will happen while DBF is away and so far I've been really lucky (knock wood!). Good for you for handling it AND staying on your food goals. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWow... a flood? That's so terrible. Ugh! I hate those unplanned messes that come along and ruin stuff.
ReplyDeleteBut you did a great job with the food this weekend - that's really something to be proud of!
i felt like i was "reading" a chick flick. i couldn't help but laugh, although i'm sure it was NOT funny at all while you were going through it all. i admire you for your calm spirit through the whole thing. i probably would have just balled up on the bed and cried for the rest of the weekend. and what a weekend it was, huh?
