Brithday post...and Punta Cana

So today is my Birthday! The big 2-5!

The plan was to hit up Montana's tonight since we have a new one that just opened up in our city but since I am going out with the girls tomorrow night to a fancy Thai place, I thought maybe hubby and I could just eat at home or even hit up Subway. I know it's my birthday and all but is that REALLY an excuse to go way over in my points? Mmm not really. and I know that if I go to Montana's I'll want to eat something really yummy and high in points and I'll be able to justify it because it's my birthday so I'm thinking why not just avoid the whole situation all together and eat at home or at Subway?? I thought hubby might be disappointed but I mentioned it this morning and he seemed all for it.

Speaking of this morning...I jumped on the scale and for some freak reason it showed me up 3 lbs! WHAT? I have been doing so good all week. I did go over a bit on the weekend and ate more than I planned but seriously? 3 lbs? I seriously thought it was going to be a loss since my clothes are feeling looser and I'm feeling super fit. I'm pretty sure it's just water retention or something like that but it did make me realize that I seriously have to get my weekends under control. Thus the skip-Montana's plan. If I know I'm going tou to eat on Friday night I may as well save as many points as possible, right? How else am I going to get through a weekend on-plan? I just have to face the facts that every weekend there's going to be something going on, I can't keep making excuses and going way over my points. So here comes Operation: OP weekend. I know I can do it, I've done it many times before.

On another note, we booked our trip to Punta Cana yesterday. We leave May 3rd and are staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana resort! Can't wait! That will give me great motivation over the next 4 weeks. I've got a super cute bikini hanging up in my closet that's calling my name.....

  1. Happy Birthday Carolyn. Wow, 25! I'd say skip Montana's for now. I went last weekend and it was good, but nothing that you can't wait for. A co-worker just got back from down south and she lost weight while away, eating mostly f&v's because they were so good. What awesome motivation to stick to plan. Remember, what you eat (in private) shows up in public. You can SO do this.

  2. Happy Birthday!!!
I think your plan sounds great. Subway is still a yummy dinner, even if its not as fancy as Montana's. Enjoy your birthday with people that matter to you, not food. Then you can enjoy your time this weekend knowing that you have the points for it.

Scales really are stupid sometimes. Its probably just water. No way can you gain 3 pounds in a few days when you are rocking the plan. Chug that water baby!! :)

    Yay for Punta Cana!!!
One word of advice, take the bikini out of the closet and hang it on the door so that you can see it all the time. That way you have constant motivation. You're going to be such a hottie on the beach!!
    Have a great day.

  3. Happy Birthday Babes!!!!! WOOO HOOO!
I think Subway is a great idea it's your birthday so where ever you eat will be special. Congrats on booking Punta Cana, I have never been but everyone I know that has loved it. The beaches are suppose to be amazing, I know that you will rock that bikini. You are doing so well and that gain was not real probably just water retention. Enjoy your day and again a great big happy birthday from me.

  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I'd skip Montana's too I think. I'm really trying to get away from using occassions as an excuse to eat more points. Like jenn said, spending your birthday with the people you love is what matters, not what you eat. Have a great weekend celebrating your birthday!

    And yay for your trip!

  5. Happy Birthday Carolyn!!!

No you're right, it's never good to use any holiday as an "excuse". It's one thing to plan and indulge a bit for it, but throwing plans out the window because of birthday's never make you feel good in the end. I indulged too much for a bunch of other reasons I think.

Operation OP Weekend sound like a great idea! lol

I've got my sights set on that resort that you are going to for next year! I can't wait to hear all about it! YAY for DOWN SOUTH!!!!

    Enjoy your birthday!!!

  6. Happy Birthday! You are just a baby! LOL I say that since I just turned 38! LOL

Great plan for your birthday. You are so right. Just because it's THE day doesn't mean you have to feel entitled, especially when you have such great weekend plans.

  7. Happy birthday! Oh your such a youngin' still, why I remember when I was 25 like it was 2 weeks ago...good times.

Good plan on the eating out. If you're already eating out friday then who cares. You can celebrate other ways at home...

  8. ~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY ~

i think your idea to skip going out tonight is a good one plus thai sounds much tastier (esp. if you have to use a lot of points)... you hubby should be making YOU dinner instead... ;o)

don't worry about the gain, i had a big one too this week but know it's only temporary... ;o)

I usually want to relax on my birthday as well because I know there will be other days of celebrating...you have a great plan because your birthday is ONE day right??? So why celebrate for multiple days???

I am so excited for you for the trip to Punta Cana! I love Jenn's advice about putting the bikini in full view all the time!!!

(And I wouldn't worry about the +3...that can be a whole SLEW of things!)

  10. Happy Birthday did I tell you already ;)
ok seriously for protein shakes you can pretty much use any flavoured protein powder, I like designer whey and they are about 2 or 3 pts per scoop. just add water and some fruit with ice and voila!
