Rain Rain Go Away!

Today has been a great day so far. Despite the cold and drizzle, Sarah and I went for a good 40 min walk at lunchtime. It was so cold...but that just made us walk faster I guess.

I just finished reading "The Secret" last night and I must say it has really changed my outlook. I never knew that thinking negatively could affect you so much...and I really wasn't aware of how negative my thoughts really were! So I've started my 'gratitude list' and I can't believe how much I enjoy it. If you haven't read the book, I would definitely recommend picking it up. It makes you think about how you think...did that make sense??? Anyway for those of you who have read it, I'd love to know what you think!

Last night I had 2 non scale victories! I went home from work, got my digs on and went for a workout, came home and ate a big pasta dinner. Too big....I cooked too many brussel sprouts and fried up too many veggies. Well usually I would sit there and scarf down the whole thing without even thinking but last night, I had about a 1/3 cup of pasta left on my plate and I stopped. I just pushed it away and stopped eating! I don't know if I've EVER done that!! On top of that, around 8:30 I was feeling kinda restless and decided to have a snack, so I went to the cupboard and reach for a 100 calorie pack Hostess Chocolate Cupcake. I actually had it in my hand and then I thought....do I even WANT this??? Or am I just eating because I am bored???? So I worked through it and PUT IT BACK in the cupboard! YAY me!

  3. That's so great you were able to stop yourself from over-eating at supper, AND resisting those cupcakes (those are 2 huge victories)
Everyone's always saying "stop when you're full", but that's easier said than done when you've got a plate of delicious food in front of you. Great job!!!!!

  4. i read the secret too and remember liking it but really need to sit down, and read it straight thru again... there were a lot of qood quotes that i'd like to copy... :o)

as for refried beans- i just put some on a tortilla, cover w/cheese, and any cooked veggies you like... brown in a pan with a little EVOO and you're good to go... i usually top mine w/salsa verde and lowfat sour cream...

you can also do the same thing but use the beans with brown rice, chicken/beef, veggies, and cheese - roll it up and put a bunch in a 9x13 pan... cover w/enchilada sauce and cheese and that makes a great meal too... :o)

  5. I love reading your blog too!
Yours actually inspired me to talk about the Secret.
I look forward to hearing about what you think of the movie. The book is pretty much word for word, but hearing coming out of the speakers mouths can give you goose bumps.
