The Sun is Shining!!

Today has been a pretty average day. Nothing mind blowing is going on. I wanted so bad to go walking at lunch today but I had a doctor's appointment at 12:15 and it was SO beautiful out! Today is my day off from working out but I was still hoping to get in a good 30 minute walk at lunch. I always find I feel so refreshed after a good brisk walk outside. I still have 3 days left in the week though!

Oh and Scott also finagled his way into watching Rocky II last night. I actually liked it much better than the first one....Rocky kind of grew on me on his one....but Rocky III is not on the agenda for tonight! I can only handle so much in one week.

I'm really missing my fellow food fanatic co-worker (her last day was last Thursday). It was so great to have someone there everyday to talk about weight issues with and to gab all lunch hour about new food finds and weight loss challenges. Plus she totally motivated me to go walking every single lunch hour. Now it's back to my lonesome! At least she lives in the same city still and we can dish about food via telephone! It just reminds me how important it is to surround yourself with positive people who encourage you along the way. The thing that gets me the most is that people who have never had a weight issue JUST DON'T GET IT. They don't understand how hard it is to say no to a big piece of yummy Skor cake at a company gathering (We Rock, Sarah!) or to just stop eating when your full or to walk by those peanut butter cookies everyday at the store on your way to the coffee machine. They Just don't get it. Another thing I don't get is people who don't like sweets!!! What the hell is that???? I was born with an addiction to chocolate...I just know it. My hubby would way rather have an extra piece of chicken rather than dessert. For me, it's dessert EVERYTIME, no questions hands down, bring on the dessert. It's almost to the point where dinner has become a nuisance and it is basically just an obligatory custom that we have to get through in order to get to dessert!

Well that's it for me today.... How is everyone's week going?

  1. You are so Sweet. And I totally miss your support as well. It's so nice to have found a fellow food fanatic. I have met very few people like us who can get true bliss from simply discussing a great piece of cake, or really appreciate the will-power it takes to say NOOO to that cake. When you love food as we do, it's not a simple task to politely say no thanks, I'll pass, when what you really wanna do it take the whole cake and a big fork and be alone to finsh it off. You are doing great, I read you're blog daily, and can't wait to see your numbers DOWN this week. Hope we can go for a hike this weekend.

  3. I love what you said about people just not getting it!!! Someone who never has to worry about food or temptation don't know how we feel each and every time we walk by a cookie, drives me crazy. And people who don't like sweets, WHAT THE F&^^% I can't live without :) Have an amazing day babes and if ever you need a buddy to discuss weight issues, I am always available.

  4. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't mention that I'd rather have chips over a chocolate bar... ;) I TOTALLY know what you mean about people who just don't "get" the whole weight/food issue. My sister-in-law who also deals with the whole weight thing (and is my rock when discussing food, like your friend) had some skinny chick say to her at a business dinner, "You know, if you want to lose weight, you should just eat less and exercise more!". Um, yeah, like that is something she doesn't know!! There's so much more to it, otherwise the entire population would be thin, duh!

    Take care,

  5. Gah - well said about the people who don't have to worry about sweets and junk. One of my best girlfriends is stick-thin, has two kids and has a kitchen that looks like a candy store and bakery rolled into one (and she eats it all - all the time!)

Lol, and dishing about amazing food is so much fun - I thought I was the only person who wants to photograph her dinners and send pictures to friends. :)

Your fajita dinner looks so yummy. I like doing theme meals. :)

  6. Ever since I start WW with you last year I have come a long way. Before I started WW I didn't have an appreciation for sweets. I didn't really truely appreciate any food like I do now. I took it all for granted and ate whatever I wanted when I wanted. Now, when it is time to use my flex points, I really take my time and pick out the best possible combinations of treats. Having a chocolate bar on the weekend along with maybe a burger from Wendy's is like heaven now. Whereas before that would be a 3 to 4 time a week ritual.

Anyway, my point is I like my sweets as much as anybody, I just never really appreciated them before. Actually I pretty much like any food now.

  7. You make me laugh! My 2 youngest girls actually call one of their favortie colors "chocolate" instead of brown!

I have a friend who was always super skinny, too. After each of her 4 babies she would just "go for a walk everyday" and be back to her skinny self in no time. The clock (and the drive-through) have caught up to her. She can no longer eat whatever she wants and now wants to know how I am losing so well! LOVE THAT!!!

And don't you just get a salad sometime so you can have a big ol' dessert?! :D
