Today I am starting my experiment with counting calories. I think I will try it out for a few days just to see how many calories I am taking in. Based on my height and weight, I should be getting between 2000-2150 for maintenance and about 1500-1650 for weight loss. (Obviously I'm shooting for the latter!) So it should be interesting to keep track of it for a while and really see where most of my calories are coming from. Any other calorie counters have any tips for me?
In light of my calorie experiment, I came across this web page of What Does 200 Calories Look Like? Check it out. It's very interesting...
I've tried out a few of the 100 calorie pack snacks...and even though everyone RAVES about them...for the most part you don't get very much AT ALL for 2 WW pts! I haven't found one that I truly think is worth 2 pts (with the exception of the 100 Calorie Hostess Chocolate Cupcakes...they are to die for and only 1 pt!!) Has anyone found a 100 calorie pack that they can't live without....AND one that's worth 2 whole WW pts?!?!?
Here is an article I found on 100 Calorie Packs: 100-Calorie Snack Packs: Do They Help With Weight Loss?

I think this is good?!?!?! FEEDBACK PLEASE!
I also got in 40 min workout and burned 400 calories! Yay me!!
Back in the day... BEFORE WW was even born.....I remember counting calories. It was 1000-1200 calories per day!! One summer, I wanted to fit in a bikini.. so I cut back on my caloric intake...(I was 17 at the time!)The bikini looked wonderful! I must say..dieting and food planning has come a long weigh! (hehe)since then. Good luck sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree there's no better bang for my 100 calorie buck than the hostess cupcakes. I like eating things that taste like a cheat, but don't add up to cheat calorie-wise.
ReplyDeleteIf you actually go to sparkpeople it will give you a range of calories that you should be in which has really worked out for me but I know everyone is different. I would probably say around 1500-1700 calories would be pretty good range.
ReplyDeleteFor the 100 calorie snacks I know how weird this may sound but I think for me they are more for portion control then to say its so X pts. Instead of eating 2 or 3 servings of that bag of chips Im not as tempted. The ones that I really like though are the Ritz Chips, 100 calorie wafer bars and of course the 100 calorie hostess cakes..yum! Very interesting information also about 200 calories thanks for sharing!
Thats great about your workout and staying on target you are really doing fabulous!
i dont know if you read my entry a few weeks back where i was so frustrated with my 1 lb loss that i spoke to a gf of mine and she thought that the 22 pts i was consuming (which roughly equates to 1200 calories) was too few and that i should be eating about 1500 calories (which roughly equates to 30 pts).
ReplyDeletewell, i did it for a week, felt a little nervous bcause i felt like i was betraying the ww spirit, but I felt frickin great and I lost 1.5 lbs that week!
it definately cant hurt to try!!!
Hey
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post and skinny vibes on my blog, I have just added you to my list of bloggers, if you need any tips on running let me know. Have a great day :)
I love those kind of weekends, where you can just relax and not actually feel like you're doing anything. I think your calories look good, like you're in a healthy range. Ideally, you're supposed to get your calories in percentages for your whole day, 50% carbs, 30% protein, and 20% healthy fat. (Or 25% each for protein and fat, depending on the plan). If you enter your calories in a free site like fitday.com, they automatically tally up your percentages so you can see where you're at. This balance is supposed to be ideal for giving you enough energy to exercise and protein for your muscles. It's not easy though, because carbs are soooo good! ;)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
PSG
