Calorie Counting Experiment

I think I've decided to try a little experiment starting Monday. I have been so oblivious as to how many calories I take in per day, I thought it may make me more aware if I spend a week calculating my daily calorie intake. I figure it might open my eyes a little and help me on my little weight loss journey! So starting Monday, I'm counting the good ol calories (also counting my WW points of course!!) I found a great program on SparkPeople.com that helps you to add up all your calories, carbs, protein etc. It also lets you know how much of these things you should be getting in the run of a day. I will let you know my findings!
So my product of the day is Laughing Cow Cheese Light I tried it the other night on a few Wasa crackers. I'll admit that I didn't give it much of a chance since I wasn't really feeling too great and wasn't really in the mood for cheese, I just ate it for something to eat (SUCH a bad idea!!). I did love the texture of it but I found that it was a little lacking in the flavor area. BUT I'm going to give it another chance and maybe I should have something else with it like sugar free jam or something? There are also different flavors like Herb and Garlic but I didn't find them in Calais. Has anyone else tried this product?? Gimme some ideas if you've got em! Maybe if the Wasa's had a little more flavor themselves? I bet it would be great on Garden Vegetable Melba Rounds......hmmmm.
So this weekend I have been planning different ways to keep the points to a minimum even though we are going to be out celebrating St. Patricks Day, I am still trying to pre-plan and make healthy decisions. This is what I've come up with so far: Instead of coolers or high calorie drinks, I'll be sipping away on Tangerine Vodka and Raspberry Crystal Light (new creation...haven't tried it before but it sounds yummy). And any muchies for the night will be low fat (but of course I'm going to try not to munch at all!!) Tomorrow's weigh in will be the determining factor as to how much 'fun' I'll allow myself to have this weekend. Wish me luck ladies!!
Breakfast:
WW Bagel - 2
1 Tbsp of Low fat cream cheese - 0.5
1 tsp of Smucker Sugar Free Jam - 0.5
1 granny smith apple - 1
Lunch:
1 Peanut Butter (low fat variety) & Banana sandwich on WW bread - 3
100 Calorie Hostess Chocolate cupcakes - 1
1.5 cups of baby carrots - 0
Peanut Butter Fiber One Bar - 2.5
Total: 10.5
Supper:
Vegetable Stew (May by hubby's Mom) It's soooo gooood!!! - 8
Filled with Carrots, Cabbage, turnip, potatoes, onions and stew meat. I cut out the stew meat altogether and piled up on the onions, cabbage, carrots, and turnip. I limited the potatoes so the points would remain decently low. I forgot how much I love stew so I am picking up the fixins and may possibly try my own out this week.
Daily points target: 22
Daily points used: 18.5
I tried to use more but by the time I worked out, got some groceries and settled down it was 8:30 and tomorrow is weigh in day so I REFUSED (it was hard) to eat anything after 7.
I also got in an awesome 45 mins of intense cardio!! I feel great!!
Flex points remaining: 35

  2. I havent tried that stuff yet but have been looking for it. For the things to add to it maybe some type of light italian or such dressing would probably be good with it I would think.

Glad to hear you discovered Sparkpeople it truly is a wonderful site. Im another one who has been keeping up with points but also looking at my calorie intake as well and its been very helpful. You can track so many things it really shows you where your calories are going.

You have to post about how your weigh in went this morning, hope it went well!

Good luck this weekend with all your temptations I know you will do great!

  3. Hi Carolyn, thanks for stopping by my blog and offering some words of encouragement. It's nice to know that I'm not the only newlywed that packed on the pounds. (Not that I'd wish that on anyone!!). It's also great to hear that you've got a handle on the situation and you're totally kicking butt in weight-loss. I think your drink combination sounds perfect. I've done almost the same thing, but with raspberry vodka and crystal light, yum. Although, there is a lot of sugar in the flavoured alcohols.

Anyway, take care and have a great weekend and St. Patty's Day!
